FEATURED ASCEND PROGRAMS:
NO ONE LEFT BEHIND SERIES
This is a series of programs that are geared to really dwell deep in the soul of children with life restraints. These hindrances have altered the educational process as well as their behavioral patterns. These are all programs that are designed to be administered to expose various problems and provide support and solutions.
These programs are geared to dilute the hard knocks that children have unfortunately been cast off into and help them to see other options. This is done through these empowering programs: Adolescence to Queens, Operation PREVENT, and My Sisters Brotherly Keeper.
The Ascend Foundation Operation PREVENT
This is a program that we developed to have a panel of MEN from multiple communities that has endured some TRIALS and TRIBULATIONS throughout the years within the spectrum of varies cities. These setbacks potentially could have claimed their very lives. The men in this program overcame some earth shattering events and they have gone on to do some PHENOMENAL things with their existence. We have brought these men into this forum as a panel to share their STORIES and their WISDOM with 120 youth in various high schools and junior high school settings (Pontiac being the first) at Pontiac High!!! This group was filled with the kids that are considered to be the tough cases. The children that a lot of people have begun to start writing off as if they are LOST CAUSES!!! The children that we can’t afford to lose. Cities like: Pontiac, Flint and Detroit have been the main landing points. We have just made provisions to expand in a more diverse setting. This program has become adaptable to whatever the cultural environment may be. It is an ongoing program.
The Ascend Foundation Adolescence to Queens Program
This is a program that we developed to have a panel of WOMEN from multiple communities and walks of life that have endured
some TRIALS and TRIBULATIONS throughout the years within the realms of various dynamics. These setbacks potentially could have claimed their very lives. The women in this program overcame some soul shaking events and they have gone on to do some EXCEPTIONAL things with their existence. We have brought these women into this forum as a panel to share their STORIES and their WISDOM with 120 youth in various high school and junior high school settings (Pontiac being the first)!!! This group was comprised of children that are considered to be the tough cases. The children that a lot of people have begun to start writing off as if they are LOST CAUSES!!! The program is furthered by a follow up session to help channel these children toward various solutions to their fractured environments. The children that we can’t afford to lose. My Sisters Brotherly Keeper Program (Wayne State University)
This is a huge program that we are bringing to Wayne State University auditorium every fall. This program is thrown by men in appreciation for the plight of womanhood. This program is open for all Pontiac and Detroit high school students (young ladies only) where they are going to spend the whole day at Wayne State University participating and experiencing multiple events and sessions. It will start with a big assembly that will have all POWERFUL women who will be performing everything from the Master of Ceremony duties all the way to performing individual breakout sessions. We are excited to have Wayne State University see this mission and step up the way that they have which is GROUNDBREAKING!!! This will be an annual event.
Future Legend Campaign
Future Legend Campaign is geared to push the importance of wanting something better for yourself, rather than mediocrity, in the eyes of a
child/student. It is pushing for children to reach their potential and grab for their apex. This is structured to promote and encourage the educational process by creating a fun, thought provoking series of events to help usher student achievement. It is a campaign that would have us as: teachers, administrators and mentors getting behind these young minds and promoting and encouraging them to be beyond ordinary.
This push should kick off with some type of a rally to bring the children together to introduce the movement/campaign. This is the school and us showing our commitment to these children as a unified front as well as us trying to make their introduction a fun experience. Then we would come behind that session and have small group breakout sessions pushing and reinforcing some of our specific goals that the school has set for them. This is then reinforced by follow up sessions with administration and staff as well as students to maintain a strong campaign push to reach our designated GOAL!!!
Ascend Foundation and Oakland County Sheriff Department: Push For Peace Law Enforcement Panel/Law and Streets 101 Workshops
This is a series of PANEL DISCUSSIONS AND FORUMS speaking about some very DETRIMENTAL ISSUES deal with the reality of minority’s interaction with the police and the legal system. This negative cloud has plaguing multiple communities but yearns for clarity in the system!!! This event is to allow the community to voice their concerns by having open dialogue about the interactions between Law Enforcement and the Community. We have a panel of guest that will engage each and everyone to address the concerns with the goal of building a better relationship with Law Enforcement and the community. The follow up is a series of hands on activities and interactive lessons with members of law enforcement to help create awareness and promote a better understanding between children/adults and law enforcement. These activities are created to be placed in schools for a better relationship tomorrow. The Oakland County Sheriff Division is the ones that administer these varieties of projects. We are the sponsors and facilitators. This program has already been done in: city establishments, public schools as well as colleges.
